Starting on 1 January 2025 and onwards, non-European Union/EEA citizens must pay an application fee when applying for programmes leading to a degree in higher education (excluding doctoral degrees and Erasmus Mundus programmes).
If you are a Finnish citizen or a citizen of some other European Union/EEA country or Switzerland, you are not liable to pay the fee. Those who have a residence card for a family member of an EU citizen in Finland, a European Union Blue Card, a continuous residence permit granted on grounds other than studies, a permanent Finnish residence permit or a long-term resident's EU residence permit are also exempted from the fee. The same applies to those under temporary protection, who do not have to pay the application fee.
The application fee is 100 euros. After you have submitted your application, you will receive a payment link via email and will have seven days to pay the fee. If you don't make the payment by the given deadline, your application will not be processed.
After paying the application fee once, you can apply in all applications in which studies start in the same academic term (including different universities and both bachelor's and master's programmes) without having to pay the fee again.
