Description of the study module

The business studies program consists of courses in accounting, management, marketing, entrepreneurship, and corporate communication, which are key areas of business. The studies provide students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to understand business from different perspectives and in different operating environments. The studies are offered as a separate study module in English;  in Finnish studies are offered through the Open University.

After completing the study module

•    you will be able to form an overall picture of business competence and apply what you have learned in practice

•    you will be able to identify current issues related to business competence

•    you will be able to assess your own interest in different areas of business competence

•    you will be able to evaluate business from the perspectives of responsibility and ethics

Study structure

Curriculum, Basic Business Studies

The English-language Basic Business Studies study module is comprised of 25 ECTS credits. There are no prerequisites for the courses, and the courses do not need to be completed in a specific order. Some of the courses are taught on campus during the day, while others are taught online. Attendance requirements for contact teaching courses may vary.

Application

At ILPO registration portal you can create a JYU user ID and register for Basic Business Studies courses. Courses have specific enrollment time slots, and each course is taught during one academic teaching period (around two-three months' period).

The price of studies from January 1, 2025, is €20 per ECTS credit.
