Industry 4.0 - Additive Manufacturing Technologies

Technologies of the 4th industrial revolution

Industry 4.0 is a 6-month project in 2018-2019 that explores the possibilities of industry 4.0 components, such as the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems and cognitive computing. Special interest is directed at additive manufacturing technologies, especially 4D printing - a technology in which  the printed object can change shape according to parameters such as heat or moisture. Industry 4.0 has even been called the 4th industrial revolution for its potential to change the manufacturing industry.

The project aims at deepening the knowledge and understanding of the Industry 4.0 concept and spreading this knowledge to the businesses in the area. This is realized through social media and news articles, but also by organizing events around the topic. The project also aims at guiding the suitable businesses in utilizing the Industry 4.0 components.

The project is funded by the Regional Council of Central Finland.
