Opti3D

Opti3D is a one-year project in 2018-2019 which surveys the current state of 3D printing in the region of Central Finland. The project aims to find concrete ways for enterprises in the region to develop their business with the printing technology. In addition, the project examines what kind of added value optimization could offer the enterprises.

3D printing is a rapidly developing manufacturing process which involves benefits such as effective use of materials, easy prototyping and lowered manufacturing costs especially in the case of unique parts. This technique can replace many of the traditional manufacturing methods and allow the manufacturing of such parts that are impossible to build using contemporary methods. The project supports the Strategy 2040 of Central Finland, which aims to respond to the revolution of digital economy by bringing a new kind of digital thinking into the enterprises in the area. 

The project is funded by the Regional Council of Central Finland.
