The exhibition sheds light on the development of the Jyväskylä University’s Mattilanniemi Campus from an old pastureland to a city landfill and finally to a living and green university campus. Jyväskylä University will be leaving the Mattilanniemi campus area this fall.
The exhibition features a wide range of material about the area's architecture and the valuable park area. You can see, for example, scale models and plans of the campus created by Arto Sipinen, as well as marvel at the curiosities of the park area's extensive plant collection, such as the northernmost fruit producing walnuts in Finland, and other interesting plant specialties.
There will be an exhibition catalogue in English available. Welcome to explore this endangered urban environment through the archive materials of the Jyväskylä University Museum!
The exhibition is open Wed–Fri 12–17 and Sat 12–16. Exhibition Centre Soihtu is located in the S-building on Seminaarinmäki. Free admission - welcome!
