How to identify an unknown pure quantum state?
Abstract
How many different measurement settings are needed in order to uniquely determine a pure quantum state, and how should such measurements be chosen? This question has been partly answered, but still partly open. I will explain the background and connections to functional analysis, harmonic analysis, differential geometry and other subfields of mathematics. Prior knowledge of quantum theory is not assumed.
