This photo exhibition curated by Tuomo Kuitunen aims to showcase the immense diversity of species not only across the planet but also in Finland and even within a small local area. Almost all the photographs in the exhibition were taken in the Luopioinen region of Pirkanmaa. Visitors will get a glimpse into the colorful world of various insects through stunning close-up images. The exhibition encourages reflection on our relationship with nature and humanity’s place within it. Our well-being depends on the well-being of nature. We are all in the same boat!

For Tuomo Kuitunen, observing nature has become more than a hobby—it’s a way of life. He roams the outdoors with a camera slung over his shoulder, listening, watching, and sensing. What began as a youthful interest in birds expanded into collecting and identifying beetles and plants. Today, he mostly records his observations through photography, as it feels like a more ethical approach.

The exhibition is on display in Natural History Museum’s temporary exhibition space. Admission to all exhibitions at Natural History Museum is free of charge.
