The Finnish Meteorological Institute has developed methodologies for biological applications of weather radar data and has also launched a website for bird and insect monitoring. The talk covers aeroecological developments in weather radar research and opportunities for research and monitoring applications in the context of aerial animal movement.
Nadja Weisshaupt is an ornithologist with special interest in bird migration and conservation biology. She has been studying birds by various radar types for about 15 years. As a researcher at the Finnish Meteorological Institute, she has been developing weather radar applications and methodologies since 2018.
