Kadri Runnel is an Associate Professor of Conservation Biology at the University of Tartu. Her research focuses on understanding fungal biodiversity and its role in ecosystem functioning. She combines molecular approaches, especially environmental DNA, with field ecology and experimental systems to disentangle how fungal communities assemble, persist, and respond to environmental change.
