Rose Thorogood is an Associate Professor of behavioural ecology at the University of Helsinki. Recruited by HiLIFE in 2017, she moved to Finland after spending 10 years at the University of Cambridge UK, first as a PhD student with Rebecca Kilner and postdoc with Nick Davies, then as a NERC independent research fellow. Rose spent the winter of 2013 at Konnevesi working with Johanna Mappes and Helinä Nisu, applying theories from information ecology to explain puzzles in predator-prey evolution, and since moving to Helsinki has secured multiple project grants from Suomen Akatemia and various foundations to establish a diverse international group with research interests ranging from parental care to urban ecology and coevolution. She has also won university prizes for her work in improving workplace wellbeing and quality of teaching.
