Phage Therapy: From the Laboratory to Real-Life Use
Matti Jalasvuori
Antibiotic resistance has renewed interest in bacteriophages, viruses that infect bacteria, as potential treatments for difficult infections. Their ability to target specific bacteria offers opportunities for tailored therapy, but it also creates practical challenges: suitable phages must be found, matched to a patient’s infection, characterised, and produced to reliable quality standards. Legislation is also adapting to the use of modern biological drugs. This talk covers the development from laboratory to real-life applications.
