New professors

Miriam Nokia has been particularly interested in the function of the hippocampus during learning. Her research has focused on the formation of memories and their storage in the brain. The special field of the professorship is the basic mechanisms underlying behavioral change, in particular those of the central and autonomic nervous systems.

Kaija Collin's current research interests include the links between learning at work and well-being at work, and how different generations respond to the demands of continuous learning and learn together at work. Collin's research has also shown that the experience of learning at work is also shaped by the specific characteristics of the job and the organisational context.

Tuire Koponen research interests relate to development of mathematical skills with particular focus on mathematical learning difficulties, comorbid difficulties and intervention research. She also lead the research team in a consortium project aiming at developing a game to enhance children’s basic math skills in elementary school

New professors

Sari Sulkunen studies multiliteracies in the construction sector, focusing on work-related texts and ways of engaging with them. Her main areas of expertise broadly concern text and literacy skills and their teaching. She specializes in teaching discipline-specific text skills, adult literacy, workplace-specific text practices, and multiliteracy.

Tuuli Lähdesmäki's recent research interests and publications focus on EU cultural and heritage politics and policies, meaning-making processes in cultural heritage, strategies of interpreting the past, memory, identity, and identity politics, as well as European narratives.

Mikko Rönkkö's research spans entrepreneurship studies and quantitative research methodology. His primary focus has been on the growth and internationalization of software companies, investigating how these firms develop across various stages and expand into international markets.
