Registration period extended
Due to high demand, the Conferment Committee decided at its January meeting to extend the registration period until the end of February. You can register for the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony if you graduate by the end of February.
Masters
You can register if you are applying for a degree by February 28. If you have applied for a degree but your master's thesis is still being evaluated, you can still register.
Doctors
You can register if your dissertation defense is scheduled for February 2026 and it is the only requirement remaining for your degree.
Please note that registration for the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony is binding and the degree must be completed before participating.

Join the Masters' and Doctors' Committee!
Are you planning to participate in the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony as a Master or Doctor? Would you like to be involved in organizing this traditional and wonderful celebration? We are looking for members for the Masters' and Doctors' Committee. As a member of the committee, you will participate in the planning and organization of the event and receive a 50% discount on the Conferment of Degrees participation fee!
The Masters' and Doctors' Committee meets approximately once a month, with more frequent meetings closer to the event weekend. We are looking for masters and doctors who will participate in the spring graduation ceremony to become members of the committee. We hope to have representatives from all faculties. The meetings are held in Jyväskylä in person.
The masters members are responsible for planning and organizing Flora's Day and the laurel weaving ceremony. In addition, the masters are responsible for the masters' program for the Conferment of Degrees cruise, i.e., a visit to the Opinsaunan kiuas.
The Doctoral members are responsible for planning and organizing the sword-sharpening ceremony.
The coordinator of the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony supports the Masters' and Doctors' Committee and is also a member of the committees.
If you are interested in joining the Masters' and Doctors' Committee, please send a message to the Conferment of Degrees Ceremony's coordinator Emmi-Noora Roos (emmi-noora.a.roos@jyu.fi) by December 31, 2025. In your message, please indicate when you graduated and from which faculty, and whether you are participating as a master's or doctoral candidate.

Doctoral hat head measurement events in Jyväskylä
Doctoral hat manufacturer Ab Melanders Hattfabrik organizes head measurement events in Jyväskylä. In these events, the manufacturer measures the shape of the doctors’ heads so that the doctoral hat fits properly.
The making of the doctoral hat begins by measuring the shape of the client’s head with a conformateur, a measuring device patented in the 1850s. Measurement takes approximately 15 minutes.
Melanders Hattfabrik comes to Jyväskylä to take head measurements. If you would like to order a doctoral hat from Melanders Hattfabrik, you can come either to one of these events or contact the company and agree on a different time and place.
Head measurement events in Jyväskylä
Monday 12 January at 11 am - 4 pm and Monday 16 February at 11 am – 4 pm.
Place: Events are held in the University Library Lähde (Street address: Seminaarinkatu 15) room Säde. It is located on the second floor.
