Course feedback

How and why course feedback is gathered? What is the Norppa system?

How to give course feedback?

Feedback on teaching is collected through the Norppa system. Feedback is collected for each course implementation, and the core questions of the survey (9 in total) are always the same. In addition, the teacher or the unit responsible for the teaching may have added their own questions.

You will receive a response link by email when the survey is open. The email address used is the one listed in Sisu. By default, surveys open on the day after te end of the course implementation, but in some cases the teacher may open the survey earlier. To respond to the survey, log in to Norppa using your university credentials. Once logged in, you will see all surveys that are currently open for you. Surveys are open for 21 days by default. Before the survey closes, you will receive one reminder message if you have not yet responded. After submitting your feedback, you can view a summary of the numerical feedback given by other students. Giving feedback is anonymous. Once the feedback survey has closed, the teacher may provide a response to the feedback in Norppa. You will receive an email notification when the response has been published.

Why is it important to give feedback?

Course feedback is an important part of developing teaching. Providing feedback ensures that students’ voices are heard and gives the teacher valuable information for improving their teaching. By giving feedback and reflecting on your own work, you also develop your own assessment skills. In addition to supporting the teacher’s personal development, information from course feedback is used at the department, unit, faculty, and university levels for planning and developing education, as well as in research related to teaching and learning at the university.
