Internationalisation
Internationalization requires a wide range of competences
Internationalization requires
- discipline-specific internationalization competences
- multilingual and intercultural communication competence
To acquire and express these diverse competences, students develop an internationalization plan.
Internationalization plan in a nutshell
- Acquire internationalization competences in a goal-oriented manner during your studies.
- You will learn to describe your discipline-specific competences through discipline-specific studies and contexts.
- You can acquire multilingual and intercultural communication competence through Movi courses, by taking advantage of various exchange opportunities and/or by visiting the relevant guidance website.
- Document and describe the competences you are developing in your internationalization plan.
For whom is this website intended
Movi's internationalization competence guidance website is designed for
- Students
- Support for visualizing and practicing their thinking, competences, and ability to express themselves.
- Study advisors
- Resource in student-centered guidance sessions, allowing students to choose the themes and sections they wish to explore and develop as part of their internationalization plan.
The site is not intended to be navigated linearly or worked through in its entirety in a single session; instead, students can return to the themes and their various sections according to their own interests.
- The guidance website is based on the Framework for Multilingual and Intercultural Communication Competence (MICC) developed at Movi:
How the website works
You must log in with an alias so that the voting results for certain task sections can be compared with those of others. The name you choose does not have to be an official username as there is no password required.
The site presents six core themes, each of which has an information section, a task section, a reflection section, and a wording section. Please note that, whilst these six thematic areas cover a significant part of multilingual and intercultural communication competence, there is much more to the subject; therefore, the site is not exhaustive, but it does introduce you to some key themes.
Themes:
- Language skills and multilingual competence
- Concept of culture
- Emotions
- Power dynamics in interaction
- Categorisation and stereotypes
- Identity
You can explore the themes and their various sections in any order by...
- clicking on the headings or icons that act as links and following the instructions that appear next to them.
- moving linearly from one page to the next using the arrows on the left and right of each page.
- clicking the … icon in the bottom right-hand corner of the site to view all pages and selecting the ones you want to explore.
Please read the instructions for use carefully.
