500 licenses acquired for DeepL translation tool

DeepL is an easy-to-use online language translation tool. Staff and doctoral students can request access to the DeepL translation tool for work-related purposes. There are 500 licenses available.

The DeepL tool can be used to translate text and files into 35 different languages or to reformulate sentences in alternative ways with AI assistance. The use of the service is not restricted except with regard to the translation of individual files: each user may translate up to 20 files per month.

Request the license from the HelpJYU service portal using form. The same form may also be used to indicate that you no longer require the license.

The university licenses are linked to a user group, and the assignment of rights and the service login address are specified in the ticket response. Logging in requires the M365 service and a valid MFA (two-step verification) as required by the service.

The DeepL service may be used for exporting data classified as Open, Internal, or Confidential. Please note that data belonging to special categories of personal data (classified as Secret) must not be exported to the service. For example, an unpublished research article can be entered into the service if the article or part of it does not fall into the 'secret' category.

Due to the limited number of licenses, efforts will be made to monitor their use. If a license is not actively used, the right to use it may be revoked. Users are also requested to notify the end of their need for the license by completing form in the HelpJYU portal. This will allow the license to be made available to the next user in need.
