  • What is METEOR?

METEOR (Methodologies for Teamworking in Eco-outwards Research) is a a Horizon Project funded by the European Commission. The programme designed to strengthen the transversal skills of doctoral candidates (PhDs) and early career researchers (ECRs) pursuing careers in research and innovation, all within a supportive and international environment.

  • Who are eligible to apply for the METEOR programme?

All the PhDs and ECRs (doctoral degree obtained within 5 years) from JYU are welcome to apply!

  • What does METEOR offer?

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to attend two in-person academies hosted by partner institutions across Europe, join peer mentoring groups (PMGs) guided by academic mentors, and engage in online training resources. 

No tuition fees will be charged. All the travel and accommodation costs for the two in-person academies would be reimbursed. Please note that the number of participants for the academies and PMGs are limited. 

  • What do I need to do in the METEOR Programme?

You will be assigned to the PMGs with a team of international peers from different disciplines guided by a mentor. You will be involved in online training activities with the assigned PMGs and monthly meetings with the JYU METEOR group. 

Also, you will attend two rounds of in-person METEOR Academies for a week (spring semester in 2026 and 2027). Towards the end of the programme, your group will submit a research and innovation proposal which is aiming for a simulated research funding call. The proposal will be assessed by the experienced evaluators. 

  • Commitment to METEOR Programme

The commitment for the METEOR programme will be around 15 to 18 months. Your average engagement for this project will be approximately 1 hour/ week, with some periods of more intensive work and some with less.
