Deployments and changes in summer 2025
In addition, Digital Services will make other changes which may have an impact on the activities of those working on and off campus. The aim is to schedule these changes outside office hours.
IDM system version updates in 15.7. starting at 17:00
July 15.7. annual software updates for the system will be made. Service disruptions will occur after 17:00.
Updates will have a minor impact on end-users, but there may be scheduled downtime for individual services (e.g. logging in to the service). The OMA (personal data management) and HALI services will be unavailable during the updates. Changes to access rights and resources for persons and system services will only take effect with a delay after the outages.
Route change in the optical fibre connection of Mattilanniemi/MaD
The optical fibre connection between Seminaarinmäki and Ylistönrinne will be rerouted as the MaD node is being removed. This change will affect data and internet connections on the campus. The change is planned to take place in August–September; a more detailed schedule will be provided later.
Deployment of domain name system on Tuesday, 17 June 2025 (completed)
On Tuesday 17 June at 7am, the old Sauron name service system will be replaced by the new Efficient IP system. This change will not have a direct impact on users, provided that the new system is fully operational and performs in line with the functional tests, including in large-scale production use.
Upon deployment, the new system will start to provide the network connectivity information (IP number and DNS name) necessary for the operation of the terminal's network and will respond to name service queries used by the terminals and services using the network to operate.
What to do in case of problems
If you encounter problems with your workstation where the network connection is not available or Internet services are not working, the first thing to try is to reboot the workstation. If this does not help and the problem persists, please contact Digiservices Customer Support.
Deployment of edge firewall on Tuesday, 24 June 2025 (completed)
On Tuesday 24 June from 17-21, the old edge firewall will be replaced by a new solution, which will have a major impact on the University's Internet connections and almost all services using IT systems on campus.
During the deployment period, you should be prepared for a number of service interruptions of varying duration and network traffic disruptions, both on campus and for internet connections. Disconnections will also have an impact on logging on to services outside the university (e.g. HAKA logon), as these services use on-campus systems to identify the user.
The M365 environment and emails will function normally during some of the outages, but you should be prepared for disruptions in these services as well.
