Digitalisation collaboration between the University of Jyväskylä and Jamk University of Applied Sciences is progressing

In both organisations, digitalisation has been identified as a main driver of success and target of investment. As the support and development needs of digitalisation increase, it has been decided to launch a study with the aim of creating ways to meet the growing resource needs by strengthening collaboration. The aim of the study is to identify the current state of organisations and to find ways to develop and improve the efficiency of operations.

The planning has started with benchmark visits to other higher education consortiums, pilots of the current state analysis model and a description of the long-term target state. Descriptions of the current state have first been prepared for data centers, service management and systems that process user IDs. The model developed based on the pilots will continue the work on describing the current state for other areas, and the next step will be to plan the target space alternatives.

Ari Hovila, Chief EnterpriseArchitect at the University of Jyväskylä, and Juha-Matti Sulander, Solution Architect, have been appointed as the project leader. Hovila is responsible for the planning and practical management of the project. The first version of the project plan will be completed by June.

In addition to collaboration at the technical level, there is also a need for cooperation and networking at the individual level. The people of the University of Jyväskylä's digital services and the ICT services of Jamk University of Applied Sciences gathered for the first joint planning afternoon in early May. In addition to networking and deepening mutual trust, many opportunities for everyday cooperation were already identified.

The planning has been launched as part of the activities of the EduJyväskylä network. The deepening of digitalisation cooperation is proceeding in the spirit of EduJyväskylä, regardless of the decisions and schedules related to the formation of the higher education consortium.
