Storage system migration on 10–12 June 2025

The storage system of the MaD server room will be moved to the Lähde server room in June. It is estimated that this process will cause two service interruptions, each lasting approximately one hour. The first downtime will be on Tuesday, 10 June after 4 p.m, with the aim of restoring services as soon as possible on Tuesday evening. Another one-hour service interruption will take place on Thursday after 4 p.m.

The interruptions on Tuesday 10 June and Thursday 12 June will affect the following services:

Deployments and changes in summer 2025

In addition, Digital Services will make other changes that may affect people working on campus. The aim is to schedule these changes outside office hours.

Deployment of domain name system on Tuesday, 17 June 2025

Starting at 7 p.m. on 17 June, the old domain name system Sauron will be replaced with the new Efficient IP system. This change should not directly impact users.

Deployment of edge firewall on Tuesday, 24 June 2025

Between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. on this date, the existing edge firewall will be replaced with a new solution. This will have a significant impact on the functionality of JYU’s internet connections and internal services that use the DIP IT systems.

During this time, you should expect several service and internet traffic disruptions of varying durations, both on campus and for online connections.

IDM system version updates in week 27

The annual software updates will be carried out in week 27 of July. These updates will have a minor impact on end users, but there may be scheduled interruptions to individual services.

Route change in the optical fibre connection of Mattilanniemi/MaD

The optical fibre connection between Seminaarinmäki and Ylistönrinne will be rerouted as the MaD node is being removed. This change will affect data and internet connections on the campus. The change is planned to take place in August–September; a more detailed schedule will be provided later.
