Borgström is a specialist in knowledge-based management and a serial entrepreneur based in Jyväskylä. He founded the knowledge-based management company Pengon Oy in 2008 and has since helped establish and grow several companies. He has invested in startups and is a board member and investor in around twenty companies. He has also served on the boards of Jyväskylän Yrittäjät and Hallituspartnerit Keski-Suomi, and as the chair of the Digital Committee of the Central Finland Chamber of Commerce.

“The University produces research and expertise with genuine commercial potential,” says Borgström. “I want Unifund to be an approachable partner for researchers and teams from the earliest stages of developing an idea. Money alone is not enough: teams also need business expertise, networks and investors who can provide follow-on funding. That is why we are strengthening our collaboration with the University, regional business development organisations and venture capital investors, so that more research-based ideas can grow into international companies.”
