Maintenance outage: firewall system changes on Tuesday 21.04.2026, 5–7 pm
On Tuesday 21 April 2026, from 5 pm to 7 pm, system changes will be made to the firewall systems, which will have a widespread impact on the operation of the University’s services and on logging in to several services on campus that use IT systems.
During the implementation, there will be service interruptions for several services, as the changes will affect precisely those areas where, for example, user authentication systems related to service use are located.
The estimated duration of the changes and service interruptions is approximately 20 minutes, but you should be prepared for longer disruptions.
The following service impacts have already been identified (the list of services will be updated):
- Wireless network (WLAN) on campus
- VPN remote access connections (including staff and students)
- Logging in to HAKA services (Shibboleth)
- affects all services using HAKA login, including: Moodle, Mepco, SAP, eParking parking app
- SSO login (sso.jyu.fi)
- Redcap, gitlab.jyu.fi, halava/jalava
- Moodle
- Oma services
- EXAM services
- Parking: eParking app (new parking bookings cannot be made during the maintenance window)
During the changeover, please be prepared for service interruptions of varying durations and network disruptions across the campus and services. Network outages will also affect logging in to various services outside the university (e.g. HAKA login), as these services use systems located on campus to identify users.
The M365 environment and email will function partially as normal during the service interruptions, but it is advisable to be prepared for disruptions to these services as well. If you have logged in to the services before the service interruption, you will be able to use most services as normal during the maintenance work.
