Nurdan Özlem Ergin: My experience as Erasmus+ Intern
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation from Istanbul Kültür University. Following my graduation, I came to Finland to undertake an Erasmus+ internship mobility at the University of Jyväskylä.
My interest in biomechanics grew through my undergraduate studies, involvement in voluntary projects, and hands-on experience in motion analysis. Having previously completed an Erasmus internship in a motion and gait analysis laboratory, this was my second experience in such an environment, allowing me to further strengthen my background in biomechanics and deepen my practical understanding.
During my internship at the University of Jyväskylä, I worked on biomechanical analysis project with a focus on EMG data acquisition and processing within 3D gait analysis, while also having the opportunity to observe ongoing projects involving ultrasound and shear wave imaging, which helped me become more familiar with imaging techniques and interpretation. One of the most valuable aspects of my internship was the opportunity it gave me to gain extensive hands-on experience. This allowed me to gradually become more independent in my work, under the guidance of my supervisor and the research team.
My experience in Jyväskylä was both academically and personally rewarding. I really enjoyed the calm atmosphere of the city and its close connection with nature, and I also found the working environment at the University of Jyväskylä to be very supportive, with people always willing to help and share their knowledge. This positive and collaborative environment motivated me and helped me make the most of my internship.
