Open drawing sessions on Tuesdays
Open drawing sessions on Tuesdays are meant to improve your observation abilities and to deepen your drawing skills. Autumn begins with classic drawings of plaster statues and progresses throughout the academic year toward croquis drawing and experimental methods.
The work proceeds based on individual starting points and personal goals. Each meeting begins with a short introduction related to materials, techniques, or other topics that deepen the understanding of drawing.
The drawing sessions are led by Joonas Suomalainen-Sallinen, a doctoral researcher in art education. He will provide personal guidance and support in drawing. Both university students and staff are welcome to participate.
The autumn meetings will take place every other week on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the main building, C418. There is room for 20 people per session. Please register using this form. Registration will open on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. Remember to cancel your registration if you are unable to attend. You can log in to the registration form with your Haka ID.
Participation in the drawing sessions is free of charge. Art supplies are at your own expense. On your first visit, you can purchase lithographic paper from Joonas. Be prepared to purchase the paper with coins or MobilePay; the price is 20 cents per sheet. Regular H, HB, and B pencils are suitable for use. In the future, you will also need charcoal, charcoal erasers, and blending stumps.
