Flag flying is a joint tradition of the University and the Student Union JYY during Pride week in Jyväskylä, and flags belonging to both organizations were taken from the flagpoles. The University and the Student Union will report the incident to the police.

"The university should be a place where every member of the community has the right to be treated equally, regardless of their background, status, or identity, and that is why we participate in Pride Week. We condemn the vandalism of the flags," Rector Jari Ojala says.
