Campus dogs have been a part of the activity of University of Jyväskylä since 2018. The campus dog meetings are coordinated by Movi and Student Life in cooperation with the Kennel Club.

The campus dogs are part of the care and reading dog activities of the Finnish Kennel Club, and the dogs have been trained and tested for suitability for this role. The dogs are calm and approachable. Spending time with the dogs can help you relax and take a break from your studies for a while. The campus dog offer gentle companionship and welcome everyone without judgement. The instructors of the dogs are always present to support and interpret their dogs.

At the beginning of the meeting, the dog owners briefly introduce their dogs and you’re free to pet the dogs. Usually, the dogs and their owners stay around one place, and students can move from dog to dog if they want to pet more than one. All you need to do is to show up fragrance-free, stroke the dogs and enjoy a calming moment.
