The 2026 ranking, based on citation data from 2025, includes Stefan Baumeister, Vilma Luoma-aho, Joel Mero, Annukka Näyhä, Mikko Rönkkö, and Ward van Zoonen.

The ranking draws on the international Scopus citation database and assesses researchers' scientific impact using several citation indicators. Covering researchers across different disciplines, it provides one perspective on the international visibility and impact of scientific research.

Joel Mero, Associate Professor at JSBE, emphasizes the importance of collaboration behind such recognition.

"Being included in this ranking is certainly a great honour, but research is, above all, a collaborative effort,” says Mero. “Most of my publications have been led by my talented colleagues, doctoral researchers, and other co-authors. Behind any individual researcher's achievements lies the expertise and hard work of many others. I therefore see this as recognition that should be shared widely across our entire academic community."
