The history of the Language Campus has been published
A history of the different stages of the University of Jyväskylä Language Campus has been published and can be read both in Finnish and English on the Language Campus website. The history was written by history student Ville Tuovinen, and the photos were compiled by Language Campus coordinator Roosa-Maria Vesanen. The Language Campus has been operating at the University of Jyväskylä since 2007.
The history describes the phases of the Language Campus from its beginnings to its current activities. It sheds light on, among other things, how the Language Campus has contributed to the status of languages at the University of Jyväskylä and in society at large. The history was compiled based on interviews with former and current Language Campus members. A list of Language Campus award winners is also included at the end of the history.
Language Campus brings together six language and communication units at the University of Jyväskylä: the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication (Movi), the Department of Language and Communication Studies (KiVi), the Centre for Applied Language Studies (Solki), the language pedagogy section at the Department of Teacher Education (OKL), the Teacher training school (Norssi), and the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (KTL). The aim of the Language Campus is to develop and renew research on language, language education, language teaching and language policies, and its activities include a wide range of interdisciplinary collaboration in education and research.
