THE ranking 2026: University of Jyväskylä maintained its strong subject rankings

The University of Jyväskylä’s research in education was ranked 126–150 in the Times Higher Education – World University Rankings by Subject, which compares research-oriented universities all over the world. The ranking was the same as last year. As in 2025, JYU was ranked the second highest of Finnish universities. The ranking included in total 830 universities.

Psychology at JYU continued at the 151–175 range among 694 evaluated universities. The list of psychology included five universities from Finland, of which JYU was the second highest.

In total eight JYU subject fields were included in the distinguished listing.

Social sciences at JYU continued at the range 201–250 and humanities was positioned 201–250 among the world’s best universities. Business and economics remained at the 301–400 range. Health sciences and information technology were ranked at 501–600. Physical sciences were at the 601–800 range.

The rankings by subject measure teaching, research and citations. In addition, industry income and international outlook are evaluated. The weighting of indicators varies between disciplines, but the reputation of teaching and citations are weighted most in all subjects.
