The Open Science Centre annually allocates approximately 3 million euros for information resources for the JYU community, with the largest cost arising from database subscriptions. The continuous rise in the prices of information resources places significant demands on the adequacy of the acquisition budget, and each year database subscriptions are reviewed with an eye on their usage and price developments.

Due to cost pressures, the subscription to Clarivate’s literature reference database Web of Science will end starting January 1, 2026. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the discontinuation of the subscription.

However, we recommend considering other similar databases, such as Scopus and Dimensions, as alternatives to Web of Science. For example, Dimensions covers more research outputs (e.g., articles, books, preprints, funding, patents, datasets) compared to Web of Science, and the coverage of the Scopus and Dimensions is better across scientific disciplines.

Access to Web of Science through the university's subscription will continue until December 31, 2025.
