The University of Jyväskylä’s new website offers a smoother user experience
The goal for the new website has been to improve user experience while making it more accessible and information easier to find. The site also features a clearer structure to make it easier to navigate.
“Part of the University’s mission is strong communication with society,” says Digital Director Ari Hirvonen. “The website offers an important window to the University, and it has been created for external stakeholders such as companies and applicants. The aim is to provide digital services that enhance the University’s attractiveness.”
The University’s website is an important channel. It is used in student recruitment and communication, for daily as well as science communication, and with stakeholders.
“The aim has been to develop the site in a user-oriented way, so that information is accessible and can be found more easily,” says Director of Communications Anna-Kaisa Säkkinen. “In the digital age, websites remain an important point of contact.”
The internal aim has also been to centralise content production and reduce task redundancy. Information is automatically updated from a number of background systems. For example, content related to applications and studies is updated from Studyinfo and Sisu. In addition, researchers’ publications are updated from the research information system Converis.

The “Study with us” section presents JYU’s entire range of studies
In the “Study with us” section, students find information on JYU’s study offering, the options leading to a degree, supplementary studies, and the Open University’s courses. You can browse by department and at the same time read about the student and career stories as well as application instructions.
Those interested in JYU courses will find all of them in the new “Study with us” section. There is information on training leading to a degree and our continuous learning options related to different fields. The section also provides introductions to various fields as well as student and career stories to ease and guide your decision-making. We have also simplified our application guidelines.
Our research section presents the strategic priorities of our research operations and provides an overview of our high-quality research. Thanks to the website’s improved search features, you can easily search and find our experts, our research projects, and our Centres of Excellence.
