University of Jyväskylä's members of Board confirmed for 2026
According to the election results, Professor Hannu Häkkinen and Academy Professor Pasi Ihalainen were elected from the group of professors.
Hannu Häkkinen works as a professor of computational nanoscience and is the vice dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science.
Pasi Ihalainen is a professor of general history and comparative European history at the University of Jyväskylä. He has served, among other roles, as a member of the Faculty Council of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, as well as of the University Collegium.
From the group representing other teaching and research staff and other staff, Senior University Lecturer Olli-Pekka Moisio and Service Manager Jouni Penttinen were elected.
Senior University Lecturer in Philosophy Olli-Pekka Moisio has served in various roles within the university community, such as on the University Board, in the University Collegium, and as a staff representative.
Jouni Penttinen works in Digital Services as a service manager and also serves as the chief shop steward.
In accordance with the decision of the University Collegium, the University Board will have ten members. According to the decision of the University Collegium on 27 May 2025, the external members of the University Board for the next two-year term will be as follows: Antti Koivula, PhD; Marja Makarow, PhD; Hanna Maula, DSc (Econ.), Lic.Phil; and Janne Poranen, DSc (Physics).
In its meeting on 17 September 2025, the Council of Representatives of the Student Union of the University of Jyväskylä elected Jenni Suutari and Akseli Haanpää as the student members of the University Board. The term of a student member is two years.
The Board is the University’s highest decision-making body. It makes decisions on the main objectives, strategy, and principles guiding the University’s operations and finances.
