For well-being, it is essential to learn skills that help you cope with life’s challenges. Developed at the University of Jyväskylä’s Department of Psychology, the Youth Compass program includes over one hundred exercises that provide tools for dealing with worries and challenges. Research shows that the program alleviates stress and depressive symptoms, improves academic buoyancy, and supports young people in career planning.

Adolescents can use the program independently, but teachers and special education teachers can also apply it in classrooms or small group settings. The program is also suitable for psychologists, guidance counsellors, and healthcare professionals in individual sessions.

Research and work related to Youth Compass is currently funded by the Research Council of Finland’s Proof of Concept funding.
