Biography
I am a doctoral student in art history spesialised in contemporary photographic art and visual culture. My research interest include different manifestations of self-portraiture and the ontology of photography.
Research interests
My doctoral dissertation examines the photographed self-portraits of contemporary artists from the perspective of gender studies and queer studies. My research is situated within 21st-century photographic culture, in which the central image type is the self-portrait. In my research, I analyse how self-portraits are constructed simultaneously as citations of historical art discourses and as hybrid image types that draw on the techniques and meanings of contemporary photographic culture.
