Research interests
My doctoral research examines how the child’s best interests are interpreted and applied in municipal decision-making at the transition from pre-primary to basic education in Finland. The study brings together perspectives from education, law, and the social sciences to explore how the child’s best interests are understood in institutional decision-making and professional practice. It also examines how this principle is balanced with other legal, pedagogical, and institutional considerations.
As a project researcher in the Department of Psychology, I also contribute to research on dyslexia and cognitive aging. In a Research Council of Finland-funded project, we investigate how dyslexia manifests in older adults and how it relates to cognitive decline. We focus particularly on working memory and on how early developmental differences in verbal working memory may interact with age-related changes in cognition.
