Biography

Role & Research Focus

I am a specialist in Electron Cyclotron Resonance (ECR) ion source technology and plasma physics at the University of Jyväskylä’s Accelerator Laboratory. My research and development work focuses on advancing ion source performance and exploring plasma behavior to produce high-intensity, highly charged ion beams.

Why my work is important & Impact

ECR ion sources are the critical starting point for particle accelerators. By pushing the boundaries of ion source technology, our work enables cutting-edge nuclear and material physics research, as well as high-impact industrial applications—such as radiation-effects testing of satellite components for the international space industry.

Leadership & Infrastructure

Over my career, I have led several major achievements in ECR technology, as well as national research infrastructure projects funded by the Research Council of Finland (FIRI) and international EU-funded initiatives.
