I have been a full professor of social work since 2019 in the University of Jyväskylä. Before that I worked as a researcher and a senior lecturer in social work in Tampere University and acting professor of social work in University of Lapland. Since 2015 I have Title of Docent in Gerontological Social Work.
I am also a registered social worker by Valvira.
I am head of social work in the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy.
My research interests combine social work, gerontology and social policy. I have over 20 years of research background in care policy, citizenship, as well as participation and the service encounter experiences of older adults and their family members as service users. My latest research projects have focused on ageing policy, home care, eHealth, care civilization, social rehabilitation and home of older adults.The latest projects investigate robot literacy in care homes and places and spaces of care management.
I am a member of Research Networks: CoE AgeCare; AEPA-Wel; Ageing and Gender in the Arctic; CARPO; GEREC; GoE AgeCare.
