Biography

I am currently a professor of cognitive neuroscience at the Department of Psychology, University of Jyväskylä and the Vice Dean responsible for research at the Faculty of Education and Psychology, University of Jyväskylä.

Research interests

Developmental cognitive neuroscience including developmental trajectories related to reading difficulties and changes in brain activity during childhood. Specifically I have been studying development of auditory and speech perception, reading difficulties and perceptual learning. Understanding the development of speech perception and basic neural mechanisms of learning is important, for example, in creating efficient training tools for children with learning difficulties.
