The responsible use of AI in teaching and research is my area of expertise. I teach AI competence to students, doctoral researchers, and university staff. In addition, I contribute to the development of university-level AI practices and policies. I am a member of the JYULearn AI and Future Skills Working Group, where I am responsible for developing the University of Jyväskylä's ethical AI competency goals.
I work as a University Teacher in (Finnish) Written Communication at Movi (the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication). I serve as the team leader of the Written Communication teacher group and as the coordinator for bachelor's level studies. In addition to teaching AI competence, I teach academic writing in bachelor level communication and language courses for students in the field of IT.
In addition, I am in the final stages of completing my doctoral dissertation in the field of linguistics.
In my docoral research, I examine the mechanisms of sociospatial segregation combining linguistics, language technology, and urban studies. The aim of the research is to clarify the role of language use in the process of segergation in order to prevent socio-spatial inequality and develop cities that are more equal.
My research interests also include the development and utilization of Finnish language models, as well as AI literacy and the pedagogical use of AI in higher education.
