Project description
FIN-CLARIAH (Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure) is the premier Finnish digital research infrastructure (RI) for Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) comprising two components, FIN-CLARIN and DARIAH-FI. FIN-CLARIAH connects ten universities and memory organisations across the country.
In 2026-2027, the FIN-CLARIAH infrastructure project will continue the work of the previous project periods. The aim is to expand support for humanities and social science research by developing digital practices and tools for researchers.
The FIN-CLARIAH project involves nine Finnish universities, the National Library of Finland, the National Archives, CSC - Centre for Science and Technology Ltd and the Finnish Language Centre.

The University of Jyväskylä's work in 2026-2027 will focus on the following themes:
D3.3.4 Multimodal modelling for deep enrichment of archival documents
The objective of this deliverable is (a) to utilise foundational models to identify metadata from mass-digitised archival data, and (b) to develop tools for the multimodal enrichment of archival data with domain-specific metadata, e.g., document layout and content types.
D3.3.5 Multimodal modelling for the deep enrichment of livestream data / D4.1.4 Analysis tools for multimodal livestream data
The objective of this deliverable is to enrich livestream video data by developing tools that leverage the multimodal fusion of chat, audio, and video data to interpret the context and actions occurring within the scene (spatial-temporal understanding) (D3.3.5). The other objective is to develop tools for the (a) recognition of spatial and temporal aspects of livestream videos with category-specific understanding, and (b) multimodal fusion of chat, audio, and video data for enhanced livestream video understanding (D4.1.4).
