Research interests

In my PhD research, I historically investigate the discourses surrounding Ebenezer Howard's Garden City ideal in the Finnish media, starting from the very first mentions of the terms under analysis, from roughly 1880, to the present day. My approach is discourse-historical and falls under the field of conceptual history. As a project researcher during 2025-2026, I studied the history of the automobile factory in Uusikaupunki and industrial policies, also utilizing media archives.

I also maintain the blog Journalism Research News, where I write about the current research in the field of journalism (a wide variety of topics, with a slight bias toward historical articles). Thus, I am a researcher of history and media first and foremost, and I utilize methods familiar in linguistics such as corpus-assisted discourse analysis and other forms of discourse analysis.
