Karoliina Inha

I work as a postdoctoral researcher in the in the MultiELL - Redesigning Early Foreign Language Learning through Multiliteracies projectat the Department of Language and Communication Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. In the project I focus on children's beliefs about language and language learning as well as on developing ethical research praxis. My aim as a researcher is to better understand how to conduct genuinely participatory and ethically sustainable research with children and young people. In addition, by way of research, I want to help ensure that children's perspectives are better heard in public discourse.

I hold a PhD in applied language studies. I hold an MA in English with a focus on Second Language Acquisition (SLA), alongside minors in phonetics and mathematics. I am also a qualified teacher of English and mathematics. Before my career in research, I worked as a coordinator in a national project focused on developing language teaching in general upper secondary school (the LUKKI project, https://www.lukkiverkosto.fi/), in which I designed the content and pedagogical use of the Language Profile (https://aoe.fi/materiaali/2418) in collaboration with the Finnish National Agency for Education. Prior to that, I worked as a project coordinator at the Finnish National Agency for Education, collaborating with a team of experts in comprehensive and general upper secondary language education.I am interested in conducting inter- and multidisciplinary research with children and young people.
