Biography

Postdoctoral researcher, one of the two principal investigators in 'Mental well-being and assisted living environments (MAY)' (funding JYU.Well and Jyväskylän Sotainvalidien säätiö).

Research interests

I work as a postdoctoral researcher at the Gerontology Research Centre in the Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences and in the JYU.Well, an interdisciplinary community of wellbeing researchers, at the University of Jyväskylä. In my research, I examine the associations of the built and natural environment with activity and well-being, and how different contextual factors are shown in these associations. I focus in particular on older people and their everyday environment. In my research, I often combine survey data with geospatial data. I aim to produce information that will increase understanding of the environment's role in older adults' activity and well-being and that can be applied to designing environments supporting activity and well-being.
