Biography
I have over two decades of dedicated experience in water quality research and environmental management, I have solid expertise in both technical and leadership roles. My career includes nine years in specialized positions focused on strategic development. I hold qualifications in Lean Leadership and Management for Leadership and Network Management, reflecting my commitment to constantly advance my skills.
I lead the Research Station of the University of Jyväskylä in Konnevesi, Central Finland. In my previous position at the Finnish Environment Institute, Syke, I served as the Syke's coordinator in two prominent European research institute networks in the environmental field. Since 2012, I've represented our nation in international method standardization for Water quality (CEN/ISO). I continue in my role as the convenor of CEN TC230 working group "eDNA and DNA methods" since 2018 and convenor of ISO TC147/SC5 working group 13 "eDNA, DNA and RNA" since 2023. This has allowed me to advance shaping environmental industry standards.
I've successfully led international, multipartner research projects aimed at modernizing environmental monitoring practices. In addition, I have also led large development projects, notably, in 2021, I coordinated the renewal of the national environmental monitoring strategy for the period 2022-2030 on request of the Ministry of the Environment. I also coordinated Syke's water resource management portfolio funded by the Ministry for Agriculture and Forestry which includes over 50 individual projects. My commitment to foresight and continuous improvement, coupled with a results-oriented approach, has consistently created impactful outcomes.
I am dedicated to develop Konnevesi reasearch station and to ensure that it serves as a key infrastructure for conducting innovative environmental research and development. Further I am passionate about leveraging my skills and knowledge to contribute to the advancement of impactful environmental science and management on a national and international scale. I am open to explore potential research collaborations and opportunities within the field of water quality and environmental management.
