PhD Background
Minna completed her PhD in Business and Economics (Environmental Management) at the University of Jyväskylä, where she examined the continued growth of air travel and how demand for flying is formulated through everyday practices and societal structures in Finland. Her dissertation, Flying on a Finite Planet: Understanding Continuous Growth of Air Travel, demonstrated that air travel is deeply embedded in work, family life, and wider socio-economic systems, highlighting the need to address the social organization of mobility and the structural conditions that sustain demand for flying in sustainability transitions. More information can be found here: news and dissertation.
During her PhD studies, Minna also worked part-time in the OPTIMI1 research project, which examined how Scope 3 emissions from forest industry organizations' value chains can be reported. She worked in a work package focused on identifying and analysing changes in organizations' operating environments.
Minna has done a research visit at Post-growth Innovation Lab in Universidad de Vigo, Spain (2024).
