Biography

I work as a communications specialist at the University of Jyväskylä's marketing team. I'm specialized in strategic use of social media, and strategic, target group-oriented, and data-driven content creation, visual contents and the University's brand management. In addition, I support the student ambassador group working under the marketing team in content production and act as the main supervisor of the ambassadors' communications team.

I am also a PhD student in Musicology at the Department of Music Art and Culture Studies at the University of Jyväskylä. I graduated with a Master of Arts degree from the same department in 2023. I have a broad interest in listening to music and its potential to support well-being in everyday life. My area of expertise is particularly related to music listening and recovery as well as work well-being.

Research interests

I'm doing my PhD on music listening and recovery. In my research, I will examine the role of music listening in psychological recovery experiences. In my master's thesis, I conducted an integrative literature review, finding similarities between the psychological functions of music listening and the psychological recovery experiences represented by the DRAMMA model, utilised especially in the field of work and organisational psychology. In my dissertation research, I explore these connections using empirical and mixed methods. My research aims to increase our understanding of how people listen to music in relation to recovery and the potential effects of music listening on psychological experiences and recovery processes.

I intend to examine music listening in three different contexts: 1) in everyday life, particularly from the perspective of recovering from work-induced psychological stress; 2) recovering from physical stress caused by exercise, and 3) in competitive sports, which combine both psychological and physical strain, work, and exercise.
