I am a Senior Lecturer in Higher Education Pedagogies at the University of Jyväskylä. My work focuses on developing university teaching and supporting teachers' pedagogical expertise, particularly in the areas of future and working life skills, the pedagogical use of educational technology, and the responsible application of artificial intelligence in higher education.
I teach and study how higher education teachers can support students in using AI in ethical, critical, and purposeful ways. My particular interests include future competence needs, skills required in working life, and how technology can best support learning, critical thinking, and the development of expertise.
A key platform for advancing higher education teaching at our university is JYULearn, which forms part of the university’s strategic educational development initiatives. I serve as the Project Manager of the Multimodal Pedagogy and Purposeful Learning Environments project within JYULearn and lead the AI and Future Skills working group. The group's work has attracted attention both nationally and internationally. One of our most recent achievements has been the development of university-wide learning outcomes for the ethical and purposeful use of AI for all members of the university community.
I am also actively involved in international networks and development projects. I lead the Skills and Competences work package within the EU alliance FORTHEM and contribute to the upcoming FORTHEM NEXUS project, which will begin at the end of 2026. In addition, I am a member of the Nordic EDUCERE network, where higher education pedagogy is developed and researched in collaboration with experts from different countries.
Alongside my role as a senior lecturer, I work as an internal coach at the University of Jyväskylä. In my coaching practice, I am particularly passionate about helping teachers identify their strengths and enhance their professional motivation, pedagogical confidence, and enjoyment of teaching. I believe that the most meaningful learning experiences emerge when expertise, purpose, and continuous growth come together.
