Biography
I'm a Postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Language and Communication Studies. My academic interests lie in the field of family multilingualism, discourse studies, nexus analysis, Vygotskian perezhivanie. I'm particularly interested in how social inequalities intersect with multilingualism and how they can be addressed.
My current project investigates how the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine impacted the language policies of families with Ukrainian and Russian linguistic backgrounds living in Finland. This study is situated in the sociolinguistics of crises. It draws on the concept of Vygotskian perezhivanie to examine how families sift their experiences of the repercussions of the war through their perezhivaniya, and what family language policies are shaped in this process.
