Biography
I am a university teacher at the Centre for Multilingual Academic Communication, Movi, and I teach written communication and Finnish as a second language (S2). I teach academic writing both to native speakers, especially in JSBE and the Faculty of IT, and to Finnish as a second language students in the Integra project. I am interested in guiding the writing process and developing writing skills, and more broadly in language learning over all.
My work currently focuses on teaching Finnish, guidance and support in the Integra project. I also do a lot of other work at Movi. I am part of the Continuous Learning team, both as an online pedagogical expert and as a teacher on the Social Media in Working Life course. I am also part of the flexible pedagogy team, and I am a Moodle support and e-learning sparring partner in my work community. I am also interested in AI in teaching, and I have trained other teachers on this topic. I have developed several online courses, where I like to focus on community building and constructivist pedagogy.
I hold a Master's degree in both Finnish and cognitive science, and I am a qualified teacher Finnish as a first language and computer science. In my cognitive science thesis, I studied teachers' perceptions and assumptions about the Moodle learning environment. I am also very interested in how teachers' use of learning environments and other pedagogical tools can be supported in a way that facilitates their work, supports pedagogy and makes the environments clear and usable for students. I use my knowledge of cognitive science and educational technology to develop teaching and learning environments.
