Reetta Niinisalo
Biography
I am a university teacher at the Center for Multilingual Academic Communication, Movi, where I teach written communication and Finnish as a second language. I teach academic writing to native speakers, but also to students with an S2 background, for example in the Integra project. I am interested in guiding the writing process and developing writing skills, and as an S2 teacher, I am of course interested in language learning more broadly. At Movi, I am involved in teams focusing on continuous learning and flexible pedagogy. I have developed online courses that focus on interaction and diverse support.
Currently, I work 50% as a coordinator for JYULearn, and I am involved in many JYULearn teaching development projects and teams: I lead the systematization of teaching pilots project, I am the co-leader of the international teachers' pedagogical support project, and I am involved in many other teams, such as Artificial Intelligence and Future Skills and Learning Environments and Learning Support Tools.
I have a master's degree in both Finnish language and cognitive science, and I am a qualified Finnish teacher and IT teacher. In my cognitive science degree, I studied teachers' perceptions and assumptions about the Moodle environment. I am also very interested in how teachers' use of learning environments and other pedagogical tools can be supported in a way that facilitates their work, supports pedagogy, and makes the environments clear and usable for students as well. I utilize my expertise in cognitive science and educational technology in the development of teaching and learning environments.
