Biography

I am a doctoral researcher in cultural policy.

Research interests

My dissertation produces novel knowledge about the potential of art institutions as agencies in societal change. Specifically, the study focuses on the critical rethinking of animal production as a complex and topical societal challenge. Methodologically, my dissertation is a case study of an art gallery (a kunsthalle) during an animal-prodution-critical exhibition that provoked heated debate and emotions. By examining the exhibition Pigs (2021) by the artist duo Gustafsson&Haapoja at Kunsthalle Seinäjoki, Finland, the dissertation explores how the features of animal-production-critical art intersect with the formation of a kunsthalle’s societal agency.
